A Prescription to Get Better

What a weekend it has been. I received a call while I was on the way home Friday evening informing me that my dad who has been ill for a while now needed to go back to the hospital. So we spent the better part of the night in the ER getting him admitted. Just before I was to head over there again today, I received a call saying that he had been released. A big sigh of relief.

To help keep my mind from going places it was better not to go I did some colouring this weekend and I created a little get well card for him.  Dr Edwin is a special edition stamp from Magnolia Licious. I have coloured him up to match these wonderful papers from the MME So Sophie collection. As this is a masculine card I have kept the embellishments rather simple adding only a ribbon and a few pearls.

I hope that you have all had a wonderful weekend. Be sure to come back again soon, this was not the only image I had a chance to colour and if all goes well, I may have another card for you soon.

Guest Designing for DYSU

Oops, this post did not go live yesterday.

Thanks for stopping by today. I was given the wonderful opportunity to participate as a guest designer in the Do You Stack Up Challenge. The theme this Ribbons.

I was provided with this sweet Lilly With Flowers  image to work with from their generous sponsor

I had a lot of fun with this card. Lilly has been coloured to match these great papers from MME and Basic Grey. I found a co-ordinating ribbon in my stash and the flowers are all from Wild Orchid.

That's it for me but be sure to stop by the DYSU challenge blog and see the gorgeous DT creations.
Have a great day!

B is for Bears

Good Morning! I have to apologize as I was missing in action last week while I was sunning myself on the beaches of Curacao. It is truly gorgeous there but it is a quite the reality shock to have to come back home to winter.

Before I tell you about our new challenge I want to wish one of my ABC Christmas teamies farewell. Delphine is leaving us as things have gotten rather busy for her lately. We will miss her but she has promised to visit us as a guest designer from time to time and who knows, maybe one day when life settles down we will be able to convince her to join us once again.

Our challenge this week is hosted by Dorte who has chosen the theme of
B is for Bears
with one or more from Bunting, Banners, Brads,Bling, Buttons, Bows & Blooms .

We have two great sponsors this week.
Our very own Lacey with Stamp and create

and Bugaboo
Challenge Blog: http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com/

For my card this week I have chosen to use one of my favorite little teddy bears from LOTV. I have coloured the image with Copics and then accented with some tinsel glitter to give the garland the feel of real tinsel. After cutting the image out with my Spellbinders dies I left the image in the die and accented around the image with Distress inks and some little snowflake stamps to soften the edges and blend the image with my papers.

Speaking of papers, all of the papers on this card are from a great Echo Park pad that I picked up before Christmas and never had the chance to use.  In keeping with the challenge theme I have accented using a bloom with a brad centre layered over a couple of sweet little tags.

I hope that you have enjoyed your visit today, be sure to stop by the ABC Christmas Challenge Blog and see the rest of the gorgeous DT creations.

Snow Friends Warm the Heart

Good Morning and Happy Friday.
This is my last week as a member of the StampFairy DT. I have had a wonderful time working with Gerda and the rest of the girls but life has a way of getting in the way and I have made the decision to step down from the team.

What better way to go out though than to share with you a card featuring my favorite snowman. Gerda has created a fantastic new collection of images called George and Friends and these images are just so cute.

This image reminded me of a little snow couple and I have fashioned a card with Valentine's Day in mind accenting the image with hearts and flowers and lots of sparkle.

Be sure to check out the whole collection. You can find George and Friends here in the store this morning.

On the Wings of Time

Good frosty morning to you.  It is soooo cold here today that I don't even want to think about going outside. Oh how I hate winter. Unfortunately I am still going to have to leave the house and go to work. Before I head off, I have another card to share with you today.

This card incorporates a new stamp that I had been wanting for oh about forever now and I picked it up on Boxing Day for an excellent sale price.  I have stamped it twice with Archival ink and the added some colour using Distress inks. The butterflies were cut from the second stamping and shaded with DI before attaching them with the tiniest pop dots that I have ever come across.  To highlight the main clock I have used glossy accents on the face and then added some of the clock hand from Tim Holtz.

Taking inspiration from one of Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas I have added a bookplate with the sentiment behind it and then filled it with Glossy accents to create a faux acrylic centre. It is hard to see in the photo but the result it creates is gorgeous.

I hope that you have enjoyed your visit. Have a great day and stay warm.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Good morning, I am back with something new to share today.  I was inspired by a tag that I saw while blog browsing last week to make this set of cards. I wish that I could remember where I saw it but unfortunately I forgot to bookmark it.

Anyway, I have followed the basic style and layout that was used on the tag for my cards. I have heat embossed the floral Hero Arts background stamp and then used my Distress Inks with the emboss resist technique to achieve these rich rainbow colours.

I then heat embossed the butterflies on some patterned background papers and accented the images with more distress inks. The sentiments were heat embossed and then I have used my Distress blending tools to edge the blocks in Tea Dye to give them a slight vintage look and tone them in with the card.

I love how the simple design allowed me to put this set together quickly and I love the cheerful results.

Thanks for coming by and for all of your lovely comments they really brighten these gloomy winter days.
Be sure to stop back again tomorrow as I have yet another card to share, I am on a roll this week.
