M for Make a Gift

Good morning! It was wonderful to see so many of you enjoyed our lyrics challenge.
It was a treat for us to visit your blogs and see you wonderful cards.
Today marks the start of anew ABC Christmas challenge and this time our theme is

 M for Make a Gift

We are sponsored this week by our very own Lacey and her awesome store  Stamp and Create
Our Lucky winner will receive
a Fabulous Gift voucher.

Lacey is on vacation this week, but while she is away, there is a sale over at her store (through Friday).
At least 10% off everything at Stamp and Create.
Please note that orders will not ship out until Saturday, June 30th.

Now to show you what I have created.
As the weather was so nice this past weekend I wanted to create something that I could make while it sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine. I had seen some interesting yarn at Michael's  called Sashay by Red Heart and decided to pick some up.

This fun scarf took me about two hours to make while sitting in my backyard on Sunday. It will make the perfect gift for a friend and I have already picked up the yarn to make a few more in different colours.

As all gifts need to be properly presented, I have also created this gift bag in which to give it. The papers are from making memories. The reindeer is a Tim Holtz die that has been inked with glimmer mist and then stamped in vintage script.

To finish it off I have added a little punched floral garland around its neck and a simple black gem for the eye. Be sure to check out the ABC Challenge blog for the rest of the beautiful DT inspiration. I hope that you will join us for this challenge. I love the idea of making some more of my gifts and I am looking for your ideas to inspire me as well.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
City Crafter - Make a Gift
Love to Create - Anything Goes
One Stop Crafts - Christmas in June

Itsy-Bitzy, Teenie-Weenie...

You know where this is going right? The theme over on the Totally Gorjuss Challenge is
Something Yellow which got me going and I have been humming this song off and on all day!

I thought that I would stop by and show you the card that I finished off this morning.

I have been seeing so many cards using this gorgeous Cali Girl from Saturated Canary that I just had to give it a go myself. I really focused on her hair this time around as that really is what seems to bring this image to life. In the end she looks just like me. Ha ha, yeah right! Although a week at the beach does sound nice. Too bad it's back to work tomorrow.

I have coloured her to match with these gorgeous papers from MME that I got the other week.  I had been itching to use them ever since they arrived, they are perfect for all of my summer cards and this is a colour combo that I love so I am sure that you will be seeing more of them soon. An image as sunny as this one called for some summery flowers, so I dug into my stash and went into overload mode to finish it off.

Careful, Don't Fall In!

It is another hot, sunshiny day which is perfect for the start of this week's challenge over on the Charisma Cardz blog where our theme this week is SUMMER.

We have some great sponsors who have generously offered up some wonderful prizes.

All that Scraps

One lucky winner will receive 4 stamps or 1 stamp set.

and
Joanna Sheen

who have offered up a £10 Voucher for another lucky participant.
Now for my card...

As you can tell, this was the card that I gave my dad for Father's Day. He spent two years as part of the canoe club so when I saw this image, I knew I had to have it.
It has been coloured up in bright cheery colours which match these Lime Twist papers from MME perfectly.

On the inside I added a little pocket to tuck the gift certificate that I was giving him. This left just enough room at the top for me to add a little note.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I do hope that you will join us!

In the Meadow You Can Build a Snowman...

Good Morning, can you tell what to expect today?
It is so hot outside that my brain must be trying to cool down because Winter Wonderland is the song that popped into my head when I sat down to make a midway card for the
This great Teddy Bo  image is called Snow Bea. She is so sweet and was just the perfect image for the song. There was a part of me that was tempted to colour it up in shades of blue and white but I just couldn't resist the draw of these papers and their bright, fun colours and what better way to accent those colours than with lots of sparkle.
I have kept the layout rather simple as I am working hard to create some cards that will actually be suitable for the mail.
I hope that you have been inspired and will play along. We have two great sponsors offering up some fantastic prizes for a couple of lucky participants.
The lovely Heidi at Simon Says Stamp are offering one lucky entrant
a $15 voucher to spend in her store

Nature's Beauty

Good Morning, it is supposed to be a really hot one today. It would be perfect for crafting except I have to go to work. Just a quick post before I head off.

My aunt's mom passed away on Friday so I was in need of another sympathy card. I have done another take on the card that I made last week. This time the background was too light so I have shadow stamped the Fern from Hero Arts on top and glossed it over with perfect pearls. You can't see in the photo but this one really shimmers.

I have added the sentiment and the butterfly to finish it off and then just kept the card simple with some layered matting.

That's it though, although I love the results I would also like to be done with making sympathy cards so could everyone please be healthy now?

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

With Sympathy

Good morning, I hope that this sunny day finds you all happy and well.

This is the type of card that you never want to have to make. Unfortunately we were given the sad news the other day that my boss's wife is expected to pass away very soon. As the funeral will be held several hours away all that we can do is send our condolences in the form of a card to let him know that we will be thinking of him at this sad time.

I wanted to make a card that was serene and simple so I have pulled out some stamps and had a go with some of my Distress Inks and my new Distress markers. The colours from the ColorQ challenge were perfect for this card. The gorgeous background ia a Tim Holtz stamp that I received for Christmas and had yet to ink up. I have added a sentiment and a butterfly both from Hero Arts to finish it all off.

Grown Up Christmas List

Good Morning, I hope that you are all well on this beautiful sunny morning.
Today is the start of a new ABC Christmas Challenge. It was my turn to host and I have selected the theme
L is for Lyrics
We are asking you to create a Christmas Card using the lyrics of your favorite Christmas songs and carols as inspiration.

We have two generous sponsors that have offered up some great prizes.

The lovely Heidi at Simon Says Stamp are offering one lucky entrant

&
The fabulously talented Krista Smith at Saturated Canary is offering another lucky entrant
their choice of 2 digis from her store

Krista has generously provided the DT with some of her gorgeous images for our cards this week. I have chosen to work with Molly the Elf. This sweet girl holding her Christmas list she reminded me of the song Grown Up Christmas list which is all about wishing for things like peace, love and joy for Christmas.

I knew right away that I wanted this to be a bright fun card so I have coloured the image to match these wonderful papers from MME which can be found at Simon Say Stamp here. The layout for my card was based on this week's sketch from Sketch Saturday. I have added only one embellishment this week, a gorgeous rosette flower that I made using my new Tim Holtz die, this thing is amazing and makes it so easy.

I have even finished the inside, I am trying hard to get into the habit of this when I know what the card will be used for. It sure beats having to go through and add all the inserts right before I have to put them in the mail.

I hope that you have been inspired to join us.  Be sure to visit the rest of the DT over on the challenge blog to see all of their gorgeous creations.
Happy Crafting!

For a Sweet Baby Boy

Hi there, I am back this morning with another card to share.
I know, another baby card! Is it my imagination or does it seem like everyone I know is pregnant right now? Friends of ours who live several hours away had a sweet baby boy the other week and I have a bought a little gift to send off to them but I needed a card.

I had this LOTV image partly coloured already and I thought that it would be perfect for this great sketch from My Favorite Things. As it is for a little boy, I have used buttons as  embellishments instead of the flower.

The best part is that the card is still nice and flat, perfect for mailing. And the inside is all finished too, have a look.

Butterfly Dreams

Good Evening. It has been a wonderful weekend.  The weatherman got the forecast all wrong and all of the rain came at night so we had two beautiful days which is exactly as a summer weekend should be.

I haven't spent much time in my craft room but I did manage to finish off this card that I had been working on.  I had wanted to play with some of my new Tim Holtz stamps and some of the techniques that I learnt in the Creative Chemistry class. In the end, this card feature one of my favorite Tim techniques of emboss resist. I have embossed the large background stamp and then inked over it with Distress inks in various shades of yellow, orange and green before stamping the butterflies.

I have then inked up the central butterfly again using my Distress markers and stamped it on some dictionary to layer over the original image. I have finished it off with one of the pen nibs, I have dipped the tip in multiple layers of black and red embossing powder to make it appear as if it had actually been used.

I think that I may head back to my craft room and see if I can't put together another card before I go to bed. Thanks for coming by, I really do appreciate your visits.

Enjoy The Journey

Good Morning. Today is the start of another challenge at Charisma Cardz and this week our theme is
Travel

Our two fab sponsors this week are....
Simon Says Stamp
Photobucket
Who are offering one lucky winner a $20 voucher to their online shop!! Wow!

and
Pink Cat Studio
Who are offering one lucky winner 5 digi's of their choice!

I have a colleague who is retiring soon and I thought that I could use this theme to make a card for her as that is what she is hoping to do. I have chosen to use this great Suitcase Ruby image from Sparkle Creations that had not yet been inked up. I have coloured her to match some papers from MME and used this great sketch as a plan for my layout keeping the card rather simple so as to allow the image to be the main focus.
I hope that you will join us this week. I look forward to seeing your lovely creations.

K for Keep It Simple - Midway Reminder

Good morning, at least I am hoping it will be. I would really love for these clouds that have been lingering the last few days now to move on. I am ready for summer so bring on the sun.

Today marks the midway point for the current ABC Christmas challenge where our theme is K for Keep it Simple. You still have one more week to play for a chance to win some great prizes.

I have created another card using a basic red and white colour scheme, some of my favorite Hero arts stamps and a small snowflake punch. You can't get much easier than this and the best part is that it won't cost me a fortune to send through the mail. If you have not already done so, why not take a few minutes of creative time and make your own simple card to enter? Thanks for stopping by.

Tilda Thank You

Every now and again the rain must fall and that is what we have today. They are calling for it all weekend and I am keeping my fingers crossed that they are wrong.

I thought that I would pop by with a quick post this morning and share another card. This one uses a new Magnolia image that I had been wanting and picked up as part of my last Simon Says Stamp order.
I have had her coloured for a few weeks and last night I sat down to make a card with her.

I have had a card base made with this layout for a while now and I was trying to figure out what shape of image I would colour up for it and I set this image on it.  I realized that although the card war the wrong colour the layout was perfect and I set about to make another one to match Tilda's dress and flowers.

The layout of the card is getting a little hard to see as I really went to town with the embellishments on this one.  I have used a number of Magnolia dies and a mix of flowers from Prima and Wild Orchid. As there was not much room left for a sentiment I have tucked a tag behind my image.

There were even enough pieces left over for me to finish off the inside. I have left the centre panel blank to write a little note to the recipient.

I want to thank you all for stopping by for a visit. Happy Friday and have a great weekend.
