Vintage Masculine

Hello,  I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend. I had a play with some of my Tim Holtz inks, stamps and embossing folders the other week and thought that I would would show you the masculine card I put together with one of the pieces that I had created.

I have distressed the focal piece a bit and added some Walnut Stain to the edges, then I have matted it using some of the Tim Holtz resist paper that has been coloured using Distress Stains  to bring out the resist. I've added some of the film strip ribbon and some of the metal gears and spinners as embellishement and finished it all off with a sentiment.

I really like the end result of this one so I think that I might have to finish off another of the pieces that I had created. I will post it later this week.

Sunshine and Laughter

Good evening! Today marks the start of another new challenge at Charisma Cardz.

The theme this week is One Layer Cards and we are lucky to have some great sponsors joining in the fun.

Our first sponsor this week is the lovely Pink Cat Studio who are offering 5 digis of the winners choice!!

Our second sponsor this week is our very own Team Gem DT member Jenni from...
Card Mad Fairy's Creations

Cardmadfairy's Creations
Jenni is offering one lucky winner the choice of 5 Digi's!!

This is not my usual style but I decided to embrace it and have fun. I have seen a number of one layer cards out there that featured masking and thought I wound give it a go. To ensure that I would keep the line straight when I placed the mask (post it notes), I scored a line to use as a guide. After masking off the rest of the card I applied some distress inks with a blender, then I removed the masks and applied my stamping. I think that you will be seeing more one layer cards to come from me.

I hope that you have been inspired to give it a go yourself. Be sure to share the results in the challenge, I look forward to seeing what you create.

D for Designer Papers

Good Morning, I am back today with a card to share for the new challenge over at ABC Christmas. I think that you will find it to be a nice easy one this time around.  Our theme is
D for Designer Papers
All that we are asking you to do is create a Christmas project that features some of those fantastic papers that you have in your stash.

For your efforts, we have two wonderful sponsors who have generously provided some prizes for a few lucky participants.

For this card, I have used Tilda with Long Hair which Lacey currently has available here.
I've coloured the image to match with some great papers that I had in my stash, and added a generous dose of glitter for that holiday sparkle. The layout is based on the current sketch at Seems a Little Sketchy. I've kept the embellishments simple as I really need to work on making cards that can go through the mail this year.

The inside of this one is even ready to go.  I have decided that I am going to try to finish off the insides as I am working on my Christmas cards. This will save me time in November when I am trying to get them all ready for the mail. We will see if I can stick to that as the year goes on.

I hope that you have been inspired to join us. I look forward to seeing your creations.

Spring with Butterflies

Happy Family Day to all of my Ontario friends, I hope that you are enjoying your long weekend!

I should have posted this card on Friday but it did not even cross my mind until today when I sat down to look at all of your lovely blogs. I've created this card for the current challenge on the
Stamp and Create with Magnolia Blog where the theme is Spring with Butterflies.

This adorable Tilda is called Teddybear Love  and I've matched her up with some great papers from MME. The flower embellishements have been in my stash forever and I am not sure who made them.

Be sure to stop by the challenge blog to view the rest of the DT creations and then I do hope that you will play along.
Happy Crafting!

All You Need Is Love

Good Morning, I am back for a second day in a row with a new card to share.  This one is for the new challenge starting today at Charisma Cardz where the theme this week is

Love

£10 Voucher to their online shop!!

$10.00 Winner Certificate

For my card I have chosen another Saturated Canary image called Hugs and Kisses that Krista had provided as a freebie a few weeks back.  If you missed her she is available in the shop here

I coloured her up to match some papers from one of the paper pads that I had and then when I went to put it all together I hated it so I dug through my stash until I found some others that worked, she just needed some fun bright colours to set her off. As the papers are rather busy, I have kept the layout really simple and added just the corner floral arrangement and a sentiment to finish it all off.

I hope that you join in the fun. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create.

I Cased It

Good morning, it has been a while since I last posted. While I have been missing from here, I has been giving my craft room an overhaul. There is still some to finish but I have taken a break to make a few DT cards.

The first was for the challenge starting today at ABC Christmas. The theme this time around is
c for Case Ours.

1.  Look through the ABC Christmas Challenge blog and pick one of the DT's cards that you love.

2.  Make your own great Christmas card based on the card you picked. You could be inspired by a sketch, a gorgeous colour combo or a fab embellishment.

Picking just one card to CASE will be the hardest part - they were all fab!

PS - you can snag this Png file and add it to the card/creation you are going to CASE so people can see you're CASE-ing a card/creation.

Our sponsor this week is Saturated Canary, one of the hottest stamp companies around!

Hello! My name is Krista Smith.
I have been drawing and doodling my whole life...as far back as I can remember! Over the last year and a half, I have been selling it on Etsy. I was approached to draw stamps for Sugar Nellie, a stamp company based in Scotland. After designing only rubber for a year, I decided to branch out a bit into the digital world:). As an artist, I appreciate the versatility of digi's for the stamper. I also like releasing stamps that are a little more obscure or unique. Monsters, nerds with big glasses...even a mermaid:). Those ones are really fun for me to draw! After opening up my digi shop in the beginning of September, I've been busy filling orders:). I am really thrilled and very humbled that ladies are so receptive to my designs and seem to enjoy coloring them a lot! I am so inspired by these amazing colorists!! I have met so many wonderful, talented ladies through this business and look forward to building new friendships, too! My personal blog, Saturated Canary, is filled with bits of my family life, artwork, and a slight obsession with fashion;). I also run a new challenge/ inspiration blog, Saturated Canary Challenge with my amazing design team. I'd love to meet you and be inspired by your own creations! Do stop by and say hello!:)
Prize is 2 digi's from Krista's shop for the winner.

For my card I have chosen to case this card that Lacey made four our Y is for Your favorite Die/Punch.

I loved the layout of Lacey's card and the cute little punched edge that extended past the page so that is what I focused on when assembling my card.

The image is Hand Me Downs which was generously provided by Krista for this challenge. I have  coloured her up in traditional reds and greens and paired her up with some wonderful papers from the MME collection Sweater Weather.  I've used a holly edge punch to mimic the punched edge and added a little poinsettia for the flower.

I hope that you will join us. I am looking forward to seeing your take on our cards.
Have Fun and Happy Crafting!
