I wanted to play along with the Totally Tilda challenge where the theme is "How Does Your Garden Grow". I had been trying to decide how I would interpret this when my new Magnolia Window stamp arrived in the mail. It felt like I had been waiting forever for this to arrive so of course I had to play with it this weekend.
While colouring this image, I felt that it was starting to get too bright. I almost scrapped the whole thing to start over but decided to have a go at toning it down by adding in some browns and greys to the bright colours. I am glad that I did, I like the end result and think that it has a bit of a weathered, aged feel to it. When I was finished colouring, I distressed the edges of my image using some Distress Inks in Antique Linen, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo.
For my card, I have used the sketch below from Friday sketchers to plan my layout. The gorgeous papers are from the Basic Grey Curio Collection, I have distressed all the edges with an brown ink pad before assembling my card. For embellishment, I have used some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts which I have distressed with a light touch of an ink pad and spritzed with Glimmer mist for some shine.
I love easel cards and I was really inspired by all of the gorgeous twisted easel cards that I have been seeing on your blogs as of late so I decided to give it a go.
The base of the card has been kept simple as I still want to be able to close it. I have created a little tag for the sentiment using the Magnolia doohickey tag die and some stamps which I believe are from Hero Arts.
