Under the Sea

Woohoo, Magnolia Down Under is having their second Birthday and they have a great challenge going on to celebrate. The theme of the challenge is Two and they want us to use things in pairs on our cards this week.

I started my card with two wonderful Magnolia images (Little Mermaid and Sea Horse). I have had the mermaid all coloured and sitting on my desk for months and each time I tried to add her to a card I didn't like the way it was turning out. Now I know that she was destined to be on this card. It seems somehow fitting for a Down Under challenge. Both images have been coloured with Copics and embellished with generous doses of stickles.

I have used the Sketch by Bev from the  Just Magnolia challenge as the basis for my card.

I liked the 2 circles.  I have used one of these for my image and one for a doily which I thought reminded me of the whitecaps of the ocean surf.  The two designer papers that I have used are from Prima, I just love the warm glow from the colours in this collection.

There are also a few challenges out there this week for easel cards so I decided to have another go at the twisted easel. I am really glad that I did because I love the way that this card had turned out.  For the base of my card, I have used more of the same Prima papers.

To embellish the card I have used flowers in multiples of two.  I have added some swirly bling and dew drops to add to the feel of water and movement. If you look closely you will also notice that there are two starfish that have been cut with my Quikutz and tucked amongst the flowers.

I want to wish everyone over on the Magnolia Down Under team a Happy Birthday. Thanks for the wonderful challenges.

Thanks to all of you for stopping by. I hope that you will come back soon.
Happy Crafting.

This card will be entered into the following challenges:

  4. I love your colors, I would never have combined those two colors but it works beautifully for a mermaid. I don't see this image often but I love it. Terrific card, thanks for sharing your talent at the MSL 'die' challenge. C2
